Station SWS-13

Tremont Avenue

Accessed through Drew Gardens on the west bank, the tidal change here varies from two to four feet, providing widely varying conditions including tidal pools where organisms become temporarily trapped, and a fast channel that can make the area dangerous. Safe access is only with a bucket throw. Once a very industrial site, with remnants of two dams still in view, the community garden, managed by the International Rescue Committee, is a welcome respite. Just to the south on the eastern bank is the northern most Bronx River CSO, HP 007. http://www.nycgovparks.org/greening/natural-resources-group/bronx-river-wetlands/west-farms-section/reach-4
